We are happy to announce this year’s Australian Institute of Physics WA Student Conference, which is to be held on the 17th of November 2023 at the University of Western Australia. Each year the conference brings together young researchers from around Western Australia, providing them with the opportunity to present their research in a stimulating and friendly atmosphere. Come along to enjoy a day of networking with industry professionals and talented researchers!

Honours, Masters and PhD students are invited to present their research in the form of either a 10 minute talk or a poster presentation. We also invite undergraduate students to attend and learn about physics research opportunities available in Western Australia. Undergraduate students who have completed a research placement are encouraged to present a poster.

Relevant topics include but are not limited to:

  • Astronomy, astrophysics and cosmology
  • Biophysics
  • Computational physics
  • Experimental physics
  • Geophysics
  • Medical physics
  • Theoretical physics

We also encourage students working in other physics related fields to participate, such as physical chemistry, engineering, spectroscopy etc.

There will be a catered morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, a networking session to meet with industry professionals (see our sponsors below, who will be attending with trade displays), and prizes for the best presentations!

Registration

Registrations are now closed, however, all members are very welcome to drop by and view the presentations throughout the day.

Abstract Preparation

For abstract preparation you may use either Microsoft Word or LaTeX. Please use the templates provided in this file. Please ensure that your abstract conforms to the format of the templates, as we may ask you to resubmit if it does not.
