STEAM Ahead Australia Fostering 21st Century Critical and Creative Thinking Skills
March 17 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Learning a STEM to STE(A)M Sustainable Approach:
In this workshop, teachers will learn about the changes occurring in Australia as we shift from STEM-to-STE(A)M active learning environments. Visualise, plan and design STEAM frameworks suitable to use in your classrooms (K-12). Form collaborative networking groups with other like-minded colleagues to activate your imagination and building the next generation of 21st century thinkers.
• Learn how to teach and evaluate STEAM strategies that integrate ACARA’s (2014), General Capabilities of critical and creative thinking skills across the Australian Curriculum.
• Develop a personalised STEM-to-STE(A)M framework for the students in your classrooms.
• Collaboratively build networks with like-minded STEAM thinkers spaning across early childhood, primary, secondary education as well as industry and tertiary sectors.
Dr Bronwen Wade-Leeuwen’s PhD research into fostering ‘creativity’ in teachers at Macquarie University will underpin this professional learning workshop. She is the founder of 3 STEAM start-ups operating in Sydney and Director of STEAM Ahead Australia. Her passion is to build sustainable relationships with diverse active learning environments by partnering with industry such as Office Max Winc, Adobe and Block 42 Animation Gamification. Dr Wade regularly presents creativity and reflection workshops worldwide to establish state-of-the-art learning experiences for future education in Australia.
