AIP Women in Physics Lecturer -call for nominations
The Australian Institute of Physics Women in Physics Lecture Tour celebrates the contribution of women to advances in physics. We are seeking a woman working in Australia or overseas, who
• has made a significant contribution in a field of physics research
• has demonstrated public speaking ability
• is available to do a tour of Australia, covering Canberra and each of the six Australian State capital cities.
Presentations include research colloquia, public lectures and school lectures - subject to negotiation with the various AIP branches and their contacts. Air travel within Australia and accommodation will be provided.
Nominations for next year’s WIP Lecture Tour should be sent via email to the Tour Coordinator via the 2009 nomination form. Self-nomination is welcomed, as are nominations from branches or employers/colleagues.
NOMINATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Nominee’s details (via the 2009 WIP Lecture Tour nomination form)
• Nominee’s CV
• A 300-500 word nomination should include:
• a brief statement of the research area of interest to the nominee,
• an outline of her significant contributions to physics,
• references to key publications in which these contributions were presented (via curriculum vitae)
• evidence of her ability to give a lecture which will excite an enthusiastic response in senior secondary and undergraduate students.
An eminent physicist is sought for the position of WIP Lecturer, so therefore nominations for recent graduates are discouraged.
Self-nominations should include names of two referees who can attest to the ability of the nominee to give lectures appropriate for the target audience.
Closing Date: 31st July, 2008
